Session fees

15-minute discovery call (required)

A brief phone call to meet your therapist, ask questions, and explore whether EMDR or counselling is right for you.

Standard individual therapy sessions 

Supportive one-on-one 50 minute session, where we explore your challenges, goals, and emotional wellbeing. 

$205 per session

 

EMDR intensives

A focused format involving 2–3 extended sessions scheduled over a shorter period of time.
Fees are discussed individually 

Medicare rebates and Private health insurance

With a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate. We also accept selected private health funds. See more below.

Booking your first appointment

The first step is a free 15-minute discovery call.
 

This provides an opportunity to ask questions, understand how EMDR therapy works, and determine whether this approach feels like the right fit for you. There is no obligation, simply a conversation to help you decide your next step.

Important policies

Payment for individual sessions

We require credit card details for all bookings and payment will be debited at the time of your appointment. We use the practice management software Halaxy, where data is protected by bank grade security and stored safely here in Australia.  These securely stored details will be used for any subsequent sessions, ensuring convenient payment. Scheduling an appointment requires setting aside time especially for that client and as such, a fee will remain attached to that session whether the clients attends or not - read more about our cancellation policy below.  ​ What about my rebate? You can provide us with your bank account details (which will again be kept securely) and your rebate will be automatically paid into your account by the external funding body ie. Medicare or NDIS.

Changing or cancelling individual sessions

We require a minimum of two full business days’ notice for the rescheduling or cancelling of any appointments.  Please note that the two full business days’ does not include weekends or public holidays. ​ You can contact us to arrange a telehealth video or telephone call if you find yourself in a situation where you’re unable to attend in person. However, if for any reason an appointment is rescheduled or cancelled less than two full business days prior, then 50% of the session fee will be charged. If you do not show for your appointment, the full fee will be charged. ​ We ask for a minimum two full business days for the following reasons: Ensures availability for others: this helps manage the schedule efficiently, ensuring that appointment slots can be offered to other clients who may be in need of timely support. Encourages commitment: clients are encouraged to commit to their scheduled sessions, which can contribute to more consistent progress and therapeutic outcomes. Respects the therapist's time: it acknowledges and respects the therapist's time and preparation for each session, helping maintain a sustainable practice and ensuring that the therapist can continue to provide high-quality care to all clients. ​ There will be no charge if your appointment is rescheduled or cancelled with more than two full business days' notice. ​ You cannot receive a medicare rebate for a late cancellation. ​ You can read more in our full Cancellation Policy and Privacy Policy. EMDR Intensives 

EMDR Intensives involve either two or three consecutive EMDR therapy sessions booked together as one extended appointment. Please note that this is considered a single booking and cannot be split into partial attendance or partial payment. Medicare Rebates: Clients attending an EMDR Intensive under a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan may still be eligible to claim Medicare rebates. Please note that Medicare rebates are limited to one rebate per therapy session, regardless of whether sessions are booked as part of a double or triple-session intensive. Medicare will generally process a maximum of one rebate per day, meaning consecutive sessions attended within the same intensive appointment cannot be claimed as multiple Medicare rebates on the same day. Clients are responsible for confirming their individual Medicare eligibility and remaining session entitlements. Deposit Requirements: A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your intensive appointment. - Two-session intensive: $205 deposit, with the remaining $205 payable at the time of appointment - Three-session intensive: $307.50 deposit, with the remaining $307.50 payable at the time of appointment Cancellations & Rescheduling: Cancellations or rescheduling requests made with at least five days’ notice may transfer the deposit to a future booking. Cancellations made within five days of the booking will forfeit the deposit. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the appointment, or failure to attend, may incur the full intensive fee. EMDR Intensives require significant preparation and reserved appointment time, which is held exclusively for you

Private Health Insurance

At Mind The Way, we welcome clients using private health insurance for counselling services. We currently accept selected private health funds, including Bupa, HCF and Medibank. Eligibility and rebate amounts can vary depending on your level of cover and extras policy, so we recommend checking directly with your private health fund to confirm whether you are eligible to claim for counselling sessions. Mental Health Treatment Plan & Private Health Claiming Policy: Clients attending under a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) are asked to remain on a consistent claiming pathway for the duration of their current referral period. To support continuity of care, clear communication with the referring GP, and accurate management of Medicare reporting and review requirements, the practice does not generally support switching between Medicare rebates and private health insurance claiming within an active MHTP referral period. Clients may choose to: - access services under a Mental Health Treatment Plan with Medicare rebates; or - access services privately using eligible private health insurance extras. However, once a claiming pathway has commenced under an active MHTP referral, clients are to continue with that funding method until the current referral period and GP review process have concluded. This approach supports: - continuity and consistency of care; - clear communication and reporting to the referring GP; - appropriate monitoring and review of treatment progress under the MHTP process; - accurate administration of Medicare and claiming requirements; and - minimising confusion regarding session allocation, rebate eligibility, and funding arrangements. Please note: Medicare and private health insurance cannot both be claimed for the same session. Clients are encouraged to discuss any questions regarding rebates or claiming pathways prior to commencing treatment.
