Is online EMDR Therapy right for you?
Online EMDR therapy can be a helpful option for people who prefer the flexibility of attending therapy remotely.
Online sessions may suit you if you:
• prefer the flexibility of attending therapy from home, wherever you are in Australia
• have a busy schedule or limited time to travel
• feel more comfortable processing experiences in your own environment
Many people find that online EMDR therapy provides the same depth of support while allowing them to engage in therapy in a space where they already feel safe and comfortable.
Does EMDR work online?
Absolutely!
EMDR can be just as effective online as in-person.
Sessions are structured to feel safe, supported, and paced at a level that works for you. Online EMDR therapy can be delivered effectively using platforms designed specifically for this type of therapy.
Our sessions are conducted through Bilateral Base, a secure online platform developed for EMDR therapy. The platform allows the therapist to guide the bilateral stimulation used during EMDR sessions while you participate from your own space.
Bilateral Base includes specialised EMDR tools such as visual, auditory and tactile bilateral stimulation, which support the processing work that occurs during therapy.
Using this platform allows online EMDR therapy sessions to follow the same structured approach used in in-person therapy while providing the flexibility of attending sessions from home.

What to expect in sessions
Online EMDR therapy sessions follow the same structured approach as in-person EMDR therapy.
Sessions involve:
-
discussing your current concerns
-
identifying experiences that may be contributing to your anxiety or distress
-
using EMDR techniques to process these experiences
All you need for an online EMDR therapy session is:
-
a quiet private space
-
a stable internet connection
-
a laptop or tablet with a camera

Session details
Sessions are 50 minutes and run via Bilateral Base, a secure platform designed specifically for online EMDR therapy. Daytime and evening appointments are available, and Mental Health Treatment Plans are accepted.
Some clients also work through specific experiences using EMDR intensives; longer or back-to-back sessions over a shorter period. Whether this format suits you is something we can talk through in your discovery call.

"The journey through therapy with Nick’s guidance and support helped me to understand that anxiety is a normal and useful part of the human condition. It has helped me resist the urge to fight against the feeling but in fact embrace it. Nick’s guidance and insight were instrumental in helping me to achieve this. Starting therapy is daunting but Nick’s grace and warmth makes the process much less confronting. I now view the process as as an investment in myself and my health. Telehealth therapy sessions made the experience much more flexible and discrete working around the other parts of my life. I would certainly not hesitate to attend a future therapy session via Telehealth".
