What EMDR Therapy helps with

Many people explore EMDR therapy when they feel stuck in patterns of anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or reactions that don’t seem to shift through traditional talk therapy. EMDR can help people process the underlying experiences that continue to trigger these responses.

People often seek EMDR therapy for support with:

• ongoing anxiety or worry
• distressing memories
• stress triggers that feel difficult to control
• feeling constantly on edge
• experiences that still feel emotionally unresolved

What is EMDR Therapy?

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy that helps the brain process memories and experiences that may be contributing to present-day anxiety or emotional distress. Rather than focusing only on talking about problems, EMDR helps the brain reprocess experiences so they feel less overwhelming and no longer trigger the same emotional response.

EMDR is widely used internationally and supported by extensive research as an effective treatment for trauma and anxiety-related difficulties.

Meet your EMDR Therapist

Hi I’m Nick, an accredited EMDR practitioner recognised by the EMDR Association of Australia. I work primarily with adults experiencing anxiety and trauma-related distress, using EMDR therapy as the core framework guiding treatment. Over the years, I’ve seen how past experiences can continue to shape how we think, feel and respond, often in ways that feel confusing or frustrating.

My role is to help you work through those patterns in a steady, structured and supportive way.

01.

The first step is a discovery call, where we briefly discuss your situation and whether EMDR therapy may be appropriate.

02.

If EMDR seems like a good fit, therapy sessions then focus on:

  • understanding your current concerns

  • identifying experiences that may be contributing to them

  • gently processing these experiences using EMDR

03.

Medicare rebates available with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan.

Sessions are available:

  • in person on the Sunshine Coast

  • online via secure video

EMDR intensives

Some clients choose to work through specific experiences using EMDR intensive sessions, which involve longer or multiple sessions scheduled close together.

This format can be helpful for people who prefer to work through a particular experience or trigger more deeply over a shorter period of time.

Whether standard sessions or an intensive approach is more appropriate can be discussed during the discovery call.

"The journey through therapy with Nick’s guidance and support helped me to understand that anxiety is a normal and useful part of the human condition. It has helped me resist the urge to fight against the feeling but in fact embrace it. Nick’s guidance and insight were instrumental in helping me to achieve this. Starting therapy is daunting but Nick’s grace and warmth makes the process much less confronting. I now view the process as as an investment in myself and my health. Telehealth therapy sessions made the experience much more flexible and discrete working around the other parts of my life. I would certainly not hesitate to attend a future therapy session via telehealth".
